I'd like to take a second here to share with all of you something I realized about Octavia: she's not grey, she's TAUPE. I painted her and it didn't look right, so I watched the Gala episode again and it occurred to me that I had the color all wrong! Mind=blown.
Polymer clay (Sculpey Primo) on mixed base (Cherry Pie's head on Pinkie Pie's body). Painted with Americana craft acrylics and clear nail polish in places. Sealed with matte Mod-Podge.
Wow! That is REALLY good!
It looks like a funko figure, but so much better!
You sort of flick your brush at the end of the stroke...? Like, you begin the stroke at the eye, then at the end you you just pull up. Does that make any sense?
Someone linked me to this. I am so glad they did. I love this a lot! Octavia is one of my favorite ponies (yes, overall) and this just makes me happy. Her hair is just awesome, and her expression is so elegant. I also am IN LOVE with the way you painted her eyes and cutie mark. and the bowtie is also so detailed and pretty! I am impresssed, since it´s small, yet has full detail to it
So... basically... yes. I love this. This goes to my favorites right NOW. (Was it too hard to make her hair? it looks so smooth...)
(Did you actually get to BUY her? I never will, shipping is too expensive *sob*)
Also, great job at adapting the show´s hair, I agree with you, even though I never made a custom myself, that it must be a complete pain to make that 2-D hair into 3-D ._.
That's so funny, taupe is the word I've always used to describe her color, too! A lot of people seem to think she's grey, and I could never understand why. I've seen people color her completely wrong, and in my mind I'm going, "Come on, guys, she's not grey! She's got a little bit of brown, come on, how can you not see it?" But the truth is, everyone sees color differently, and some eyes are not as sensitive to teensy disparities in hue as others.
